What Kind of Book Are You?

You're Adventures of Huckleberry Finn!

by Mark Twain

With an affinity for floating down the river, you see things in black
and white. The world is strange and new to you and the more you learn about it, the less
it makes sense. You probably speak with an accent and others have a hard time
understanding you and an even harder time taking you seriously. Nevertheless, your
adventurous spirit is admirable. You really like straw hats.

Night Sounds

Thunder and Lightning.

Last night I sat on the back deck and just listened to the night sounds. It was very relaxing. The crickets singing their song. A dog barking down the street. The baseball game coming from the TV in the garage. Every now and then the BOOM BOOM BOOM from some teenagers car as they drive by. The soft whirring of the air conditioner.

Tonite I sat back there again. Still relaxing but the sounds have all changed. Distant rumbles of thunder. Raindrops hitting the canvas of the gazebo. Water gurgling as it runs down the drain spout. The wind sighing as it blows by. Drip drip drip.

Looks like we finally get a reprieve from the hot weather:)

Today I went to Earl May and bought me a beautiful dark red Hibiscus. Another great deal;) It didn't have a price tag so she said 19.99 then I used my coupon:) final price $13.62. I saved over 50%. I'm going through that lady's line every time I go there from now on.

Wednesday is my oldest sons' B-day he will be 23. Happy Birthday JD:) In a few more weeks I will be a GRANDMA courtesy of my youngest. Had a talk with the middle son tonite reminded him about various forms of birth control. He said he's taking care of it. JD's girlfriend is on her way to Iraq so I got at least a year before I worry about him. Our family is going through another baby boom 2 last year boy and a girl on the same day. 4 more by the end of this year 1 girl 2 boys and a ?. Can't wait to see what happens next year:0

Sunny and Hot!

I'm done planting things for about a month except for things that need to be repotted. So all I have to do is water and weed.

I also need to figure out what kind of bush to plant next to the deck and what kind of tree I'm going to plant in my Secret Garden.

HB thinks I'm crazy because my gardens have different names. He just calls them The Yard.

The annoying neighbor is moving out. Here's hoping the new neighbors are nice. Maybe they will cut that huge Wild Grape Vine out that is growing in their Lilac Bush. I fight every year to keep it out of my yard.

The Tomatoes are doing real well and the Watermelon and Cantaloupe are spreading out nicely. Only 1 Cucumber plant survived and one sad looking Cabbage. The Peppers are scraggly. I'm still getting a few Strawberries a week. My herbs are real nice this year. A lot of them are from our wedding:)

History

I inherited my yard from my father. I'll give you a list of what was already here. 8 huge Lilac bushes - 1 pink one, 4 one shade of lavender, 1 with double blooms in lavender, 2 darker lavender.

Lilies everywhere I'm not a huge lily fan they give me a sinus headache. I have Tiger lilies, Surprise Lilies, Stella d'oro Lily, another Daylily I don't know the name of. Other mystery Lilies. And I might as well add Lily of the Valley while I'm at it.

Let's not forget my enemies Vinca Vine and Yucca. And Creeping Charlie although I kind of like Creeping Charlie here and there as long as it stays out of the grass. It was once herb of the month in my favorite magazine.

2 Clematis- one dark purple and one a kind of pink-lavender color.2 Butterfly bushes both of them purple. 9 Peonies white and dark red. 1 Tea Rose- Forty-niner, 4 former Tea Rose that went wild. 1 Pink Climbing Rose. 1 little Mystery Rose that was here before my dad. It never gets big and only has a few blooms a year. And 1 beautiful Yellow Rose that grows like mad and spreads like crazy. Anybody want some?

Let's not forget the Daisies, Columbine, Tulips, Daffodils, Creeping Phlox, Phlox ( I thought they were weeds so I pulled them for a few years.), Yellow Sedum, Hens and Chicks,Purple Liatris, And Queens Anne Lace. A lot of people think of it as a weed, but grandma really likes it.

Finally the end of this list is near. Bushes- 1 Flowering Almond, 4 Azaleas -1 bright orange, 1 orange-red, 1 magenta and 1 pretty dark pink one that died 3 years ago. 3 Rhododedrens- 1 Pink, 1 white, 1 magenta. 1 Flowering Quince, 1 Mystery tree-bush, A hedge of Rose of Sharon- white, purple, purple and white. I cut down most of them. 2 Crab apple trees.

Last but not least a Mystery tree my dad says is some kind of oak tree but it doesn't have acorns and the leaves are shaped different almost like a maple. It's very beautiful in the Fall.

The Honeysuckle bushes belong to the neighbor but I have to trim them. And there were some Chinese Elm tree-bushes in the back But I finally eradicated them. Whew that was alot to remember and I'm sure I forgot something. But It will have to be good enough because I'm done...

Sad Week : (

It's been real nice out this last few days. The only thing I've done in the yard is weed and water.

Due to a death in the family, I haven't been doing much around here that could be considered interesting or fun:(

Yesterday was HBs' birthday we grilled some steak and then went to see War of the Worlds. That's about it. Tomorrow we will be having a cookout.

JL is with his mother and Austie is with his family so we just have JR and grandma hanging around this weekend.

Next weekend is the baby shower and grandma is going to visit my dad for 2 weeks. That means I can try to finish the bathroom:)

Well I really should be getting the yard ready for the cookout right now I'm gonna make it pretty. TTFN...
